The month of April marks National Safe Digging Month in Colorado and across the country. Utility
companies, excavators and locators should take this time to remind themselves of the importance of
811 and safe digging practices.
The Colorado Legislature passed new legislation, effective January 2019, which affects our industries in
many ways. The Legislature wants to improve excavation safety to protect the community and other
critical utility assets.
These changes in the law will now require all of us to do business a little differently; contact Colorado
811 and they will send your utility request to all utility services in the area, helping to eliminate
contacting a handful of different utility companies. Instead, feel free to contact Colorado 811 and they
will take care of the rest. They’ll send out your request to all the utility companies in that area. Colorado
811 is the preferred utility location method used by Arapahoe County Water & Wastewater Authority.
Help us spread the message and keep our communities safe.
